Inocência Dos Anjos Parque is a 51-year-old peasant farmer with more than 13 years of experience producing organic, agroecological vegetables. She is also a social activist, a defender of women against gender-based violence, and a speaker on good nutrition practices.

She explains that she has practised agroecology for over 13 years, using only locally available materials. Through her experience, she produces food that is 100% organic and sells it at fairs organised by the women’s association where she works. She also gives talks on the violence women experience, having participated in several seminars and workshops organised by NGOs on gender-based violence, agroecology and nutrition, including healthy eating using chemical-free produce from the fields.

With her extensive experience, she grows kale, lettuce, beetroot, carrots, spinach, onions, sage and other crops, which she sells to earn an income.

She also conducts nutrition talks on preparing meals with organic products, explaining their nutritional importance and how they can improve health. During these sessions, women often come together to conduct cooking demonstrations.
Today, Inocência prepares porridge made from maize flour with roasted groundnuts, as well as porridge made from flour, banana and carrots for children and babies. These foods help improve children’s health, strengthen their bodies and combat chronic malnutrition.
