For the last eight months, the Rural Women\’s Assembly has been organising virtually, alongside COVID-19 regulated physical meetings. There are many aspects of our movement we needed to adjust and this brought about great gains and also great awareness of challenges faced in the realm of Communications. As we speak, a communications audit is being completed. This process was guided and run by chapter leadership and members, to help us in our mission to democratize information, as opposed to what is happening across the world which is leaving poor people behind, with the capitalist chase after 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution) communications technology. This is huge for us! All ten countries designing regional and chapter-specific communications strategies!!!!
In addition to the communications audit, one member from each of the country chapters have formed part of the Media and Communications coordination team, which spans the SADC region. These women manage their Country Chapter Facebook accounts, write statements, arrange media addresses, contribute to our monthly newsletters, support virtual meetings and webinars as well as report-writing, create the posters, capture pictures and videos and many many more. What you will see on the facebook pages are live accounts of actions happening in-country and issues raised and supported by these women and their country chapter leadership.
Now all you need to do is follow them on Facebook mainly to capture all their stories, and to keep updated on any new developments.
