About Namibia Rural Women Assembly
Our Background
The Namibia Rural Women’s Assembly (NRWA) is registered as trust (T236/2020) that germinated out of the Namibia National Farmers Union (NNFU). It is an affiliate chapter of the regional RWA (Rural Women Assembly): a self-organized network or alliance of national rural women’s movements, assemblies, grassroots organizations and chapters of mixed peasant unions, federations, and movements across 11countries in the SADC region. It operates in all the 14 regions of Namibia.
Our Role
NRWA’s role is to build linkages, strengthen the self-organization of rural women and advocate for alternatives that support sustainable food sovereignty, improved rural livelihoods, secure land tenure, promotion of indigenous knowledge and improved fair marketing practices. This is done through:

- Awareness raising
- Capacity building
- Mobilization
- Media engagement
- Resource mobilization
- Exposure visits

Our Goal
To build and strengthen the self-organization of rural women to be able to advocate for alternatives that contribute to improved livelihoods.

NRWA exists to mobilise and empower rural women through advocacy, lobbying and networking.

By 2022 NRWA is a united, self-sustained women organization constituted by empowered rural women in Namibia. and the people than profit
